Another of my Beer of the Month selections, I recently reveived two varieties of Stegmair from Lion Brewery in Wilkes Barre, PA. I tried the porter first and was pleasantly surprised. It had a complex fragrance full of dark coffee, chocolate, dark fruits and dark grains. The taste lingered close to the smell. All of the coffee and chocolate smells were there, along with a more prominent dark crusty bread taste and a faint hop taste that keeps the grains from getting too sweet.
Overall, what I liked best about this beer is that it was super-easy to drink. While full bodied, it was really smooth, but not too filling. It was very easy to finish all three bottles in one session ;)
